Vision of the Future
The participants are sitting in the capacious armchairs and hold a small pillow on their stomachs. On the top of the pillows they hold stones symbolizing their negative past. The participants clasping the motionless figures with their hands and doing their best to see through sunglasses the image of their future. The episode ends with it, but any can imagine what will happen to the project participants in the next six months.
Ekaterina and Anatoliy coo at an unscheduled siesta. Before the hypnotic session they verbally construct their way to the future together. When Yulia Vassil, the addiction psychiatrist, does the rounds, Ekaterina shows her the stone, which is conventionally, divides Ekaterina’s past, Anatoliy’s past, his family and their future family. Anatoliy, in turn, is going to play the role of the patriarchal ideal man. That is to be a supporter and earner, according to the definition, of professor Nazaraliev.
However, a couple that conquered death cannot return to their native village, and they are aware that dealing with their past acquaintances is a taboo, since this swamp will definitely suck them in. It will be also hard to make contact with others, since for others they will always be in the category of "dubious types". The village is small and they cannot live there. In the era of the Great Migration, Ekaterina and Anatoliy would be among the millions of enthusiasts who migrated to the New World. Today, they have to be migrants in their own country. The organizers of Doctor Life promised to help the guys in every way with the employment in St. Petersburg, where they will go directly after the project, of course, only if they will reach the final with dignity.
Man Without a Past (read - free from any kind of addiction) Andrey Kroshanov wanted to feel himself even before the arrival to the project. And the day he was leaving he broke and threw away all his sim-cards and phones. But still he had to go back and it will take a long time to find out from his wife on the phone the reason why she is still there with him and does not want to get a divorce. This verbalized internal monologue in a depressive way degenerated into tears and hugs of his wife, perhaps it was the reason why she did not leave Andrey, as well as the general line of their future.
The professor went on accepting the participants to the honest and courageous conversation in his office. With lively gestures he reads their essence and tells each of them the highly individual sense to fight. It was enough to the professor to draw with a marker on the board effusive and introverted-centered state of the internal "ego" and the behavioral model of Victor Malleker was very clear to him for the first time. The conversation with Irina Anisimova infused confidence in her. The obvious, and yet, the eternal truth is that just one touch by the professor seems to be magical. Professor promised to Andrey to cope with the burden together with the help of 6kg "stone of the soul".
In the ninth episode the nearest and distant future is drawn clearly: first of all, the professor prepares the participants to the difficult stage of psychological work, after the physical "cleaning". This will determine the success of the enterprise, firmly associated with the reputation of the professor Nazaraliev. Second of all, each of the participant will succeed only if he/she will adopt in the social environment, overcomes the long lasting estrangement and hostility of the close ones. Victor Malleker carefully decorated the room with flowers in a vase, and when his wife Kristina did not immediately notice the beautiful flowers, Victor jokes. Similarly, the flowers should bloom in each of the patients’ rooms. To restore trust in the family is one of the objectives of the project.
In general, if all is finally fine with trust in the inner circle, it was not the same for some participants. Followed by the Italian, from whom the cameras turned away in this episode, Alex fell out of favor within the former "systemic drug addicts". It looks like they saw in him the same weakness as the professor Nazaraliev saw in him. Alex himself explains it as the mismatch of the life experience - he dabbled in, and they sat. Indeed, Alex is a weak link and he knows it well. Insufficiently motivated, he hangs out on the project as well as in life. Perhaps Alex lacks the ability to present himself and his desires to the world. Because of this, he makes mistakes in communication and doesn’t have strong friends.
At the end of the period a sharp line was drawn – the tubes inserted in the collarbone for the "blockade" were drawn out by the doctors. The scene resembled a disconnection from the world of illusion, just like the "Matrix" and learning the new principles of reality, presented by the professor Nazaraliev. It should be noted that the image of the future is of course, visible, but like the center of the city visible on the outskirts.
