Fatima Raimkulova: I acted sincerely

12.11.2012, 00:50

From the beginning, the participants disliked her, calling a provocateur, especially for the questions that hurt them right for their tender spot. Further some minor misunderstanding between Fatima Raimkulova, a psychologist and some of the participants resulted in a more serious conflict, which reached its peak during the construction of the maze. Today, she talks about the difficulties that she had to face and why.

"He was very aggressive, to the point that he went and snitched on me to the doctor"

Tell us, how did the whole construction process of the maze go?

- Of course, there were different emotions. First of all, they resisted, because they needed to work. And they did not want to work. Plus the lack of understanding of why all this is necessary, even though I explained to them. During the project, they got used to the fact that everything is ready for them. They came to get an injection, they just sat and doctors talked with them, and here it was necessary to make their own efforts. They were not prepared to make any. Labyrinth created a kind of micro-society. These are the first obstacles that they would face after treatment. It is a work on themselves. Force yourself to do something. To get up in time, to go and bring something. They're used to someone doing something for them all the time.

Who resented the most out of the participants?

- Very strong resistance was, of course, from Ira. She was not ready to work at all. She will not achieve something special in her life, she will not fight. She goes with the flow. Got used to be guided. Vitya is very impulsive. He was very aggressive, to the point that he went and snitched on me to the doctor. He is ready to fight for himself, but if there is some kind of force that will push him, he will try to bypass it by any means. Just to put aside anything that bothers from his way. He is hard working, but it takes time before he understands. At the end he found the approach. Just had to do what you asked for. Perform a task that is. Tolik at some point, also lost his temper, the overall situation has affected. He freaked out, but quickly pulled himself together. Tolik, Andrey and Victor worked the most.

"He said he did a lot of dirty tricks. Someone died because him, someone went to jail".

And what do you think about other participants?

Alex is a fine fellow. He lacks only confidence. For him it is difficult to express his opinion and defend his point of view, because he is afraid that his opinion will be disproved. Andrey is a good guy, but he is like a D student, whom the teacher keeps pulling, and he keeps asking, "Why me?" But he has a very kind heart. Gleb uses his charm. He knows his advantages. When I didn’t allow them to smoke, and asked them to come back and work, Gleb went the same way as before. I am a woman, he came up to me and says, "I have a stomach ache". Another would feel sorry for him, just after looking at his pretty face, sand him to have a rest. It did not work out with me, so he went back to work. Even forgot about his stomach. I'm most confident in Tolik, he will fight after treatment and he will succeed. He said he did a lot of dirty tricks. Someone died because him, someone went to jail. He has a sense of fault. Now he wants to live this life with dignity.

Among the participants repeatedly there was an opinion that you provoke them, is that true?

- As such, there was no provocation. The situation itself was provocative for them. Originally asking some questions, I tried to open them, so that everyone has shown what he/she represents. They have created provocative situations themselves and fell into this trap. I simply pushed a little bit.

"I didn’t know what will happen next. They could simply refuse to work, turn around and leave”.

In the end, did you managed to establish contact with them?

- Yes, at the end of the construction some respect appeared. They even thanked. It seemed like they were substituted within the last half hours on the construction site. They began to ask questions themselves. I burned my face, because we were always in the open air, and I was looking for a sunscreen. So Victor brought it to me himself. When they saw that I had caught a cold a bit, Andrey asked the doctor for anti-flue pills and also brought me. They began to care about me.

What do you think, what was the impact?

- At first they thought it was a game. At one point, when the situation escalated to impossible, they started retiring; I reminded the participants that it is necessary first of all to them. Everyone is trying for them. That probably influenced them and they came back. They saw that not only they worked, but everyone did. Crew and the whole camp were involved! Then they even said that they understood that this is not a game, but something very serious. They are witnesses to the fact that everyone worked and have made tremendous efforts.

And have you learned something important to you?

- It was a good experience in a professional scale. I was sincere. Every day - improvisation. There was no scenario. I didn’t know what will happen next. They could simply refuse to

work, turn around and leave. There was no trust in the beginning. And I didn’t not know how they will behave. But in the end, everything went great. They rock! Others would have refused to build.
