The Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, the 14th Dalai Lama of the Gelugpa lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso supported and gave blessing through his assistants to the initiatives of the World League ‘Mind free of drugs’ and particularly the Doctor Life project implemented by the World League.
The problems of drug addiction and its consequences are of great concern among the people throughout the world and the best scientists, best minds and best programs rack their brains on the efficient solution.
‘Achievements in science and technology gave the mankind a lot of advantages, but we have to pay for all of it. In my opinion, drug addiction – is a disease of a modernized society, and to resist it, we all need to cultivate a habit of self-discipline.’
His Holiness actively supports the position that any addiction should be eliminated through self-discipline, self-awareness and self-education.
